to Lead a Team of Youngsters on a
Mission to Give-a-Hand for Children’s Charities
Children from the Rainey Institute will Shop at Discount Drug Mart
for “Wishlist” Items for the Ronald McDonald Houses of Cleveland and Akron
Monday, November 9th at 4:00 p.m.
WHAT: Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson, along with the World’s Most Famous Clown Ronald McDonald and Cavs mascot Moondog, will lead approximately 15 children from the Rainey Institute on a “Fast Break” shopping spree through the aisles of Discount Drug Mart in Independence.
This outing will allow the team of children to fill carts with as many items as possible from the “wish lists” of the Ronald McDonald Houses located in Cleveland and in Akron.
Immediately following a trip through the check-out aisle, the group will hop on the bus and head across the street to McDonald’s. Beginning at approximately 4:30 p.m., the children will sort their purchases into gift baskets for each of the Ronald McDonald Houses.
During the event, representatives from both of the Ronald McDonald Houses will be on-site to accept the baskets made by the children with the assistance of the Cavaliers sharpshooter and the World Famous Clown. Snacks will be provided, and the children will receive keepsake photos taken with Daniel Gibson and Ronald McDonald, compliments of McDonald’s and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This special event is to raise awareness for McDonald’s Give-A-Hand program. November 10-20th, customers at McDonald restaurants can show their support by purchasing colorful tiny cut-out paper hands symbolizing children reaching out to other children around the world for $1 each. In honor of the 35th anniversary of the first Ronald McDonald House, all proceeds for each Hand purchased, up to $35,000, will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland.
