Cavaliers Fall Short In Season Home Opener Loss To The Celtics 95-89

CLEVELAND- The 2009-10 season is under way. Not do to a poor performance, the Cavaliers came up short facing off with Eastern Conference rival Boston Celtics 95-89. LeBron James lead the Cavaliers with 38 points, 8 assist, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 monstrous blocks in 44:55 minutes. Shaquille O’Neal had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 1 assist in 28:48 minutes. Other notables; Mo Williams 12 points, Anthony Parker 10 points and Anderson Varejao 9 points.
After the games LeBron James talked about the game saying, “First of all they are a good team. Boston is a great team. They took up out of a lot of our sets that we have been working on in practice. They made us get into a lot of “hot” situations, meaning late clock and a lot of one on one basketball. they are a really good defensive team and they did get us out of a lot of our sets when we went down in the second quarter oor in the fourth a little bit.”
When James was asked about how he felt Shaq did he said; “i think he did O.K. We don’t want to look too much into the first game because it’s really a transition for ourselves offensively and defensively. But I think that in the time that he was out there he was dominate and looked well. (He was) a little short on some shots that he usually makes, which I know he was a little mad about, but he will be alright.”
All in all it was a great start to what is going to be a great season. Keep in mind they were close to beating the Celtics not being anywhere near completely meshed. Just wait and see what happens when they do.
