The NBA’s “Week of Service” concludes when the Cavaliers team up with the hunger relief organization, Feed the Children, to provide 400 boxes of food and personal care items to families in need at two area Boys & Girls Clubs this Friday.
Cavalier players Jawad Williams and Darnell Jackson along with assistant coach Chris Jent and player development coordinator Lloyd Pierce will help unload the Feed the Children truck at the Westside Boys & Girls Club in Cleveland. Teammates J.J. Hickson and Danny Green, along with assistant coaches Melvin Hunt and Mike Malone, will lend a hand at the Nordson Community Center/Lorain Boys & Girls in Elyria.
During the week of October 19-23 the Cavaliers have been participating in the NBA’s Week of Service in partnership with the White House’s “United We Serve” initiative by giving back to Cleveland and regional communities that support the team. “Staying connected with our community is a very important part of our culture and philosophy, not only here in northeast Ohio and during this special “Week of Service”, but year round and all throughout Ohio. It is a privilege for us to be in a position to serve our communities and fans with these kinds of service events,” said Cavaliers majority owner, Dan Gilbert.
