Mavericks Cavaliers Basketball

PITTSBURGH- Gearing up for the start of the regular season, Cavaliers coach Mike Brown really wanted the team to work on perfecting the defense. In doing that, coach Brown played all starters 20 plus minutes against the Dallas Mavericks. The starting five were LeBron James, Anderson Varejao, Shaquille O’Neal, Anthony Parker and Mo Williams.

Mo Williams has been held out of game action for precautionary reason until tonight. Williams seem to pickup right where he left off with 16 points, 11 assist and 6 rebounds in 27:49 minutes, LeBron James had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and 7 assist in 26:34 minutes, Anderson Varejao had 12 points and 9 rebounds in 25:44 minutes, Anthony Parker had 10 points, 5 assist, 2 steals and 2 rebounds in 21:08 minutes, Shaquille O’Neal had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 1 steal in 20:35 and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks in 19:51 minutes as the Cavaliers roll passed the Mavericks 99-66

True the Dallas Mavericks did not play there starter but it was nice to see the players work together not only offensively but defensively as they fine tune their skills. One thing O’Neal did say ,he doesn’t go as hard when the players are playing trying to impress the coaches to make the roster because thats when people get hurt and he wanted to avoid those nick-nack injuries.

Tomorrow the Cavaliers travel to Columbus to take on the Boston Celtics in their last season before playing them in the season opener Tuesday October 27th at Quick and Loans Arena.
